Should I start with the fact that the only time we were in Yosemite we didn’t complete any hike? And that it was actually the worst weekend trip ever? Or should I say that I tried to plan the return trip to it but was so afraid of the tourists’ crowds and every time booked something not even close to the park?
I wanted to change my memories about this place for a long two years. And I know that the best season to do it should be Spring. With roads yet closed, snow on the top of the mountains, and fresh temperature thing should be different. I booked the room overlooking river in the Yosemite Riverside Inn for April. After it, I forgot about the trip almost completely. In three days before leave, I decided it’s time to select hike. And I was certain that we will do waterfall hike in Wawona when realized that it’s almost impossible to reach Yosemite valley from Road 120. Okay, I though. Let it be, Hetch Hetchy then. Easier but still very interesting π
So here we are. In the middle of April, we stopped in the parking lot near O’Shaughnessy Dam.
The 5 miles round trip hike to Wapama falls is easy with few smaller waterfalls on the way and with breath-stopping views on Hetch Hetchy reservoir.
Wapama Falls are not that high as Valley waterfalls. The wet season made it wide and full.
As a mentioned this time we stayed at Yosemite Riverside Inn. Not a fancy but quite and with the great river view. They have small but nice garden full of Spring flowers and cozy red doors to the rooms.
And the river, of course π
There is the place near the hotel worthy to stop by. Rainbow Pools is a Summer swimming hole with a small waterfall
