Sunol Wilderness

It’s impossible to describe how I’m in love with this year Spring. Incredible wildflowers bloom cannot stop to impress me more and more!

Sunol is one of the very popular places in the East Bay. Winter is the good season to visit Little Yosemite, Fall brings yellow colors and acorns to the oak covered hills, and of course the green of the Spring grass and colorful spots of the wildflowers makes this place especially impressive!

That was a cloudy day when we drove to the park. Strong wind on the valley floor froze me a bit. But when we crossed the Alameda Creek and started to hike extremely uphill I was glad that the fresh breeze cools me. This time, we planned to hike Flagg Hill Trail -> Vista Grande Rd -> Eagle View Trail -> Cave Rocks Trail -> Indian Joe Creek Trail.

The Flagg Hill trail on the top splits on two. One is going to the Flag Hill itself; the second is going to the big trail intersection which includes High Valley, Cave Rocks, and Vista Grande. We took the left and had a break on one of the top rocks.

Flagg Hill has a stunning view of the valley and hills. The only thing that spoils the view is the parking šŸ™‚

But when you reach the top you will be rewarded with the views up to the very reservoir. And with the bench šŸ™‚

And when you are almost tired of all these hills, the trail will go down. To the creek with pretty rapids. Take here a break

And then return to the trail and follow it to the Cave Rocks trail. There we made a glance on the barn, and on the nearest fork took Indian Joe Creek trail.

It was the easiest of the day. Covered with the oaks it crossed the creek few times. I believe that these is the only trail in Sunol that will be pleasant even in the hot summer day.
