Hurray for wet season! I planned to do a series of waterfall hikes in January, but unexpectedly work changed my plans.
Last Saturday was the sunny day before heavy storms. And that’s why we drove to the Big Basin to start season and year with Berry Creek Falls loop hike.

Long and not easy hike, we started with Skyline-to-the-Sea trail. The most scenic part of the path begins at West Waddel Creek.

And then Berry Creek Falls will show themselves through the trees.

The hike is very popular, and to see waterfall by yourself, it’s better to start in the early morning. My first hike to the falls I did right after sunset. When I was at the viewing platform only one person was there. This time, we started right after 1 PM, and the platform was full of hikers.

However, my favorite waterfalls are waiting ahead. After a mile of hiking from Berry Creek Falls, you will see the chain of three, even more, beautiful waterfalls. First: Silver Falls

Then you’ll climb atop of it, to see Cascade Falls

And the last but not least – Golden Falls.

The last part of the loop consists of Sunset Trail, which is almost typical for Big Basin: creeks, bridges, and redwoods.
