The trail starts right on the edge of the town near the school baseball field. And it’s actually a dirt forest road.
The trail goes around the hill to ascend it finally. In the middle of the way, you start to see the view of the mountains surrounding Portola.
The whole way is short, not more than 3 miles out and back. And not very challenging. I think only the last uphill portion requires some efforts.
We ended trail on the top of the hill. The top – actually rocks on the top of the mountain – has 360 degrees views of the valley.
The trail would be great with the snow. I can easily imagine hiking it with snowshoes, and getting to the top will become a bit more interesting.
