When you are planning weekends in Oregon you should add at least one waterfall into your route.
There is one state park near Coos Bay, you will need to drive 24 miles off the Highway 101 by not well maintained and narrow road; last three of 24 is a gravel one lane path. Then you will need to walk 1.5 miles to the trailhead. Oh, Eugene hated me 🙂
Though Golden and Silver Falls State Park is rad!
From the trailhead we turned left to the Silver Falls. Hike was short (a mile or so), not in good conditions but easy.
I climbed rocks and Eugene took near hundred of photos. The weather was sunny and warm, light cold showers was sooo gooooood!
There are two trails that lead to the Golden Falls. One to the top, and one to the down of Falls.
We started from the top. It wasn’t the easiest or shortest trail but it leads you to the top of the mountain with the magnificent view.
And to the top of waterfall
Golden Falls isn’t the easy reachable falls.
We wondered why Golden. Turned out. Waterfall was named after Dr. C. B. Golden, first grand chancellor of the Knights of Pythias of Oregon and an early visitor to the falls.
