Joseph D Grant County Park

I almost forgot about this hike. Almost šŸ™‚
Joseph D Grant is one of the biggest in Santa Clara County. The huge net of the trail covers hills under Lick Observatory. I first discovered this place exactly during my visit to the observatory. It has extremely hot June day, we drove in the small sports car, and I remember how yellow hill dramatically changed. On the way back we stopped near the Grant Lake. It was the first place where I met cows šŸ™‚

Later I found out that Park has the old mansion and the rose garden. And that it’s huge. Of course, I added it to the list of the Spring hikes.

When we got there, it was a warm April day. No clouds and the first hot sun made walk not very pleasant. We selected Hotel Trail -> Canada De Pala Trail -> Eagle Trail -> Lower San Felippe Trail -> Snell Trail as the loop.

The hills had a not a small variety of wildflowers and views not spoiled with dwellings.

We saw a lot of sign of a cattle but didn’t meet cows that time. The selected loop was easy without the extreme up or downhill hikes.

The historical buildings were closed for visitors, but their exterior looked stunning. It’s a good place for a Fall picnic
