Big Basin Ocean View Summit

I like to hike in Big Basin. Magnificent redwoods, hundreds of trails with the view over ridges and to the ocean. I wish one day to see all faces of this park

This time, we select Ocean View Summit hike. We hike the moderate trail with the main part as an old fire road.

The summit is on 1689 ft. And it has an excellent view of the ocean. It’s not that separate peak like Buzzard’s Roost or Little Basin’s Eagle Rock

As the back route, we selected Meteor trail. We walked down the hill into the canyon with old-grown redwoods.

What I love the most in hiking in Big Basin is a stop o the way back home. If you drive on Big Basin Highway, stop at the small parking lot Sempervirens point. It has the easily accessible (I mean with NO hiking 🙂 ) and one of the best view of Santa Cruz mountains
We caught golden hour there that time
