Tilden was in my October To Do list. And we did it 🙂
Tilden is actually a big recreational area of East Bay. They have plenty things to do. Dozens of trails, golf course, big lake to swim in the summer, farm, merry go round and steam trains for little ones, and of course, botanical garden
The botanical garden has the big collection of California Native plants. Park is divided into 10 geographical related sections: Southern California, Shasta-Klamath, Valley-Foothill, Santa Lucia, Channel Islands, Sierran, Redwood, Sea Bluff, Pacific Rain Forest, and Franciscan.
I was happy to find out familiar feature in Redwood and Sierra section.
I already added visit to the Tilden to my April calendar (they have table with all what to see plants by months)
Redwood Valley Railway has a line with the real steam train. Very funny activities for kids
They also have small exhibitions of trains. Unfortunately, you cannot come close and could check only through the glass.
Little fingers left a lot of imprints on the glass.
What I like the most Tilden has few places with awesome views. Inspiration point is marked on the maps.
But my favorite is a Grizzle peak chill spot
